Barking Brittany

Question
I have a 9mo. old Brittany Spaniel.  He is very hyperactive and loves to play, but is quite dominant.  He is to be neutered this week, which may help.  Another dog was visiting last wk-end, a 3 yr. old female lab, and he barked constantly at her, and she ignored him.  Nothing I did or said made him shush--except when I held him on my lap and then he peed! (after drinking a bunch of water).  He barks when on his dog run for 30 min before he stops, and barks at other dogs and people.  What is the training for barking?
Also, do you have any thought on what to give him to do? He always has to be into something! Thank you in advance.

Answer
Cindy,
No. one,  he needs more exercise, tons of it.   Go for long walks with him and make him stay at your side.  Put a back pack on him so he is weighted down so it is harder for him to walk.
For barking outside you can use a bark collar.   There are a few different kinds out there from citronella, to noises to shocks.  They work great.
Neutering will help a bit, but not if you don't walk him and take charge.   Get Cesar Milans book  about pack leader and you can also watch the girl on animal planet in the mornings.  Both are great.
