Question
my friend had a red nose pit that just had 10 pups, they were born on dec.21, but she thinks her dog isn't producing milk,( i saw the dog and she doesn't look good at all) so i want to make sure mine won't die so can i hand feed it? i just don't know how often I'll have to feed him.
thank you

Answer

Hi Mary,

Your friend needs to have her dog examined by a veterinarian. Depending on what the problem is, there is a possibility that she could die, and the pups could die if they are not fed or cared for.
All of the pups need to be hand fed if their mom isn't producing milk, not just the one you plan on taking. You can read about how to do that here:

Puppies require more than just feeding. Puppies less than one week old must be stimulated to urinate and eliminate, you can read about how to do that at the web sites I've given above.  If you have any further questions, call a vet. Do not rely on any Internet message board for prompt answers.

Best of luck,
Patti
