Puppies found one of my pills on the floor

19 9:22:22

Question
I have several dogs and am usually extra careful about my medications, unfortunately I wasn't careful enough 2night. They apparently found a pill,& as all dogs seem to do,they fought over it. The pill was one that I put under my tongue & it dissolves- I didn't have a prayer of getting it b4 it was gone. Now my poor babies are moaning & whining- one has thrown up & is/was kinda foaming @ the mouth- the other 2 r  experiencing upset tummys & diarrhea .'I don't know what to give them to help flush medication out-'!! Should I try & give something like bread 2 help absorb it? What can I do? Please help !

Answer

Hi Dyane,

The rules for the AllExperts site allows up to three days for us to reply to the messages that are submitted. That is entirely too long to wait when there is an emergency, which is what you're having.

If your veterinarian isn't available, call any local vet and tell them what's going on (and that your regular vet is closed, away, etc.)  If that isn't possible, call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center.  That toll free number is (888) 426-4435. Have your credit card ready, they will charge you a $65 consultation fee.  It would help them greatly if you knew the name of the medication your dogs ate.

Best of luck,

Patti
