POMERANIAN LION CUT

Question
My dog is a Pomeranian, he is 3 yrs old and his diet has been really great up until now. I took my dog to PETCO to have him groomed, I asked for the Lion Cut and told them to leave at least 1/2 an inch of hair on the coat, but they didn't they shaved it pretty close. My dog does not like it, he is freaking out, like if there is something biting him in his behind. He keeps biting back there, I checked him for cuts but there isn't any. His bottom is shaved real close, could this be itching him?  He won't walk far without sitting down immediately. He just wants to lay on the couch all day, I have been bringing him food and water so he doesn't get sick. Is it bad to give pomeranians this lion cut or do you think there is another issue, I am not aware of? I feel so bad for doing this to him. Also could it be when they clean their anal glands out? I don't know if Petco did this, I did not ask them to, but my sister was telling me they do it even if you don't ask them to, could this be the problem? I hope to hear from you sooooon please....Thank you...Sally

Answer
Sally, there could be several reasons your dog is acting the way he is. They might have nicked him with the clippers back there, or perhaps they DIDN'T express his anal glands and they NEED to be expressed. It could also just be itchy, as you say.

I'm not a fan of the lion cut, but it's really just personal preference. I don't believe dogs should have their hair cut/shaved unless there is a medical reason for it.
