Meeting a papillon for 1st time

Question
I've agreed to adopt a papillon named Buddy whose owner died a few months ago. Buddy is 3 yr. old, has just been neuterd and was part of 7 or 8 papillons that the woman owned. I want our 1st meeting to be positive and am thinking I should bring some liver treats in my pocket and sit on the floor and let Buddy come to me.  However I've read that it's important to establish youself as pack leader with papillons.  Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
Another issue is that he will be coming into a home with a 117 lb smooth hair collie.  The collie tried to establish dominence over my rescued beagle (she died of old age this past spring) but was not successful and they became friends. She would back him down in no uncertain terms whenever he tried to play with her.   The collie is an 8 yr. old neutered male, is still plaful and well socialized.  I would love to rescue this little papillon and want to do it in the best way possible.  How can I best handle this situation.  Thanks, Ann.

Answer
Giving him a little treat at first will not hurt and he will see you as a friend,so if you want to do that go a head,so a small treat won't hurt anything, but talk to him first and see how he reacts to you

Now as for him meeting your collie, what you can do when you go and get your dog, before you go rub a towel/blanket over the collie, and then let the new dog sniff it ect on the way home, and when you get home slowly introduce them to each other,by just letting them sniff ect even for a few days behind a baby gate
