dog peeing all over!

Question
We rescued a jack Russell a year ago, he is only now showing signs of being a puppy ie just starting to play and act secure etc as we think he was shut away, he hasn't been nurtured yet, but the problem we are having is he will pee every where including his bed, by his water and food bowls, this has been a new thing as he was fine going out for his toileting, he will also poo indoors but the main problem is his weeing. he will wee on the sofa where my husband sits and on my husbands side of the bed. we have checked he hasn't got a medical problem so i feel it might be a dominant thing? we have another jack Russell same age that has been nurtured and had him from eight weeks and we have no problems with his toileting at all. i think it's because my husband is too soft and lets him lay on top of him as soon as my husband gets in etc. I'm a bit different as i will have a cuddle with them but not all the time.please help.
kind regards Lynn atkins.

Answer
I think you are right about the dominance.  I would go ahead and neuter him.  Some claim neutering does no good, and other report it alone solved the problem.  Likely you will need to follow up with obedience training.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.

A strong leader can be quite indulgent with affection, but must be leader.
