my shit-zu got a flea dip

I have a question regarding my 12 week old shit-zu getting a flea dip.  I took him into the groomer (looking and feeling good)for a shampoo, clip and nail clip.  She gave him a flea dip also - telling my husband that he was crawling with fleas.  When my husband picked him up he was not feeling well and was having a had time breathing.  I got home 3 hours later and took him to the Vet ER - where he died the next morning.  THey refuse to believe that it was their fault.  I stand that he should not have been given a flea dip so young - with him on advantage.  Am I right to think like this?  Thanks for your time.

Most flea and tick products should NOT be combined because of danger of overdosing or other toxic effects, and some dips are too strong for puppies. The groomer should NOT have put anything on your puppy before determining if it had already been treated or not.

You should try to get a statement from the ER doc who treated your puppy and take that groomer to court.
