Question
Hi! My name is Lauren and i am an owner of a two year old doberman.  He has what appears to be a type of rash or zits on his coat which has also caused him to have some bald spots from biting and scratching these areas.  We took him to the vet and they took skin samples from him and just told us that he has allergies and we were to wash his bedding in only bleach.  We have been doing as told and it seems to only get worse.  We took him back to the vet again and they told us now to put him on Benadryl and bathe him in baking soda and water.  We are doing this.... but it seems to not be getting any better.  I was curious to see if you knew any home remedies for allergies like if there is anything else i should be washing him in or any special thing i should be doing with his food! It seems as if the vets aren't helpful and we just want him to have healthy skin!  Thank you for your time!

Answer
hello, give him One 25 ML Benadryl Allergy pill
every 12 to 24 hours. Change his diet to a fish and potatoe diet Blue buffalo co makes one as does Pro plan by purina and Natures best I beleive. Bath him only one a month or less unless his skin is very bad..Nizoral Human danruff shampoo was reccomended to me by my vetwhen my jack russell terrier broke out in allergies for teh first time and twice a week I was shedualed to bath him in Cool Not warm water...it helped alot then I went to doing this just once a month...leave the shampoo on for ten minutes and work it in well before rinsing if you want to try this. fish and potato diets for dogs are hypoallgetic and have done wonders for my two small terriers.
