paw and leg problems in dashhound

A couple of days ago my dogs left back leg has started having something like muscle spasms.His running and most times his walking are good. Also the bottom of his paw( the padded looking ball area)seems to look different and maybe a bit sensitive on that foot.What should I do and what might be the problem

Hi Cathy,

As you're probably are aware, Daschunds are famous for having back problems. The muscle spasms you've seen in your dog's hind leg may well be a back problem, not a leg problem.  Since the breed is very prone to partial and full disc herniation. I would definitely recommend an examination by your veterinarian to determine if the spine is involved or not.

You really don't want to self-diagnose this.

I don't know what you're describing regarding your dog's foot pad, but that's something else your vet can have a look at while you're at the office.
