2 year old puggle (housebreaking)

Question
Hi,
I have a puggle that is about 2 years old now.  I have always kept him in a crate when I am not home.  We moved him to a larger crate because we felt that he had outgrown the small one.  We have always kept him in the kitchen when we are not home.   Now we are having to bleach the floor twice a week because it smells when you walk in the room.  It doesn't look like he is peeing.  But he has to be.  Today I discovered he has been peeing on the front of my fireplace doors.  Yesterday it was under my husbands recliner.  Our patience is wearing thin and we just don't know what to do.  We have 2 other indoor dogs that are older now and we have never had this problem with them?  What should I do?
Thankyou

Answer
Hi Brooke;
Some small breeds are almost if not "Impossible" to Potty train..
I would keep him in a Exercise area, with Newspapers, or Pee pads until he learns his area is there, or outside...and if you want, put the area for him to go outside, and keep him there extended periods of time...
This way, he learns, his marking is there,
And when he is inside, you keep him on a leash with you, until he learns that is not acceptable, as if he tries it with you,
Tell him "Go Potty Outside".
Take him to his area, and then praise him when he does.
His Crate may be good for a short time out.
But, again, keeping him too long inside where he does not know where to go...I think is his problem...and if he is not neutered, I would do that too...that may change his urgent marking as males do this for territory rights!
Best regards, and let me know if you need further help!
