nipples?

I have a 9 month old yorkie and she is in heat and she is getting nipples on ur stomach or what it looks like it nippls. Is it weird for a puppy to get nippls on her and if it is what should i do?

Thank you for writing to me about your baby Yorkie.

When a dog is in heat she is ready to become pregnant and the hormones that are produced may enlarge the nipples.

The best thing you can do for your dog is have her spayed. It is not fun to go into heat.  An unspayed dog is particularly prone to cancer as well as the chance of producing puppies which can add to the overpopulation problem.

Life would be calmer and healthier if you had your dog spayed.
