Looking for best companion dog to join our forever home

Hi, We have a loving and very curious 2 yr old Shih Tzu and a 3yr old very laid back, chatty & very affectionate Persian Cat. We want to bring a slightly larger breed dog into our home and wondered about a Bulldog as a good companion with our pets. We have no children, a huge fully fenced yard, and see our vet for all checkups and vaccines. Our vet has only seen 2 Bulldogs in their clinic & found the two she'd seen (both females different owners) to be very sweet and quiet around the other animals in the clinic. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think a bulldog would be an excellent choice,as they are laid back,though males can be dog aggressive so a female would be the best choice

It would be a good idea to look at several breeders,as they don't tend to live long and are prone to a lot of breathing problems,but well bred ones can live to about 12 with little problems-while poorly bred ones often only live about 6-8 with lots of health problems

They are however one of the sweetest breeds-you just have to make sure they come from good breeders,to avoid health issues
