Question
The only thing i know is that when he goes out in the morning he likes to roll in the grass. Which according to the vet is what is causing his ear allergy. He's been rolling like that ever since he was a puppy, but he's only recently started scratching intensely at his ears. But the medication that the vet gave me ran out awhile ago and he hasn't been scratching. He was actually doing fine today. He was kind of groggy from staying up all day yesterday until about 15 minutes ago. But now he's kind of spooked again. Its not as bad as last night. He's actually laying down, but not sleeping. Im thinking it might be some kind of vivid dream he's having and its freaking him out b/c once he goes back to sleep and wakes up, he acts the way he normally does. I was just wondering if you've heard of this and maybe knew what to do to help it. But i'll definitely make an appointment with the vet if you're not sure what might be happening.

-----Question-----
About 3 or 4 months ago my dog (who is a 10 year old, male, golden retriever/lab mix) started acting strange everytime he would sleep. He'd be just fine asleep but then all of a sudden he would just jump up and look at the ground as is something was trying to bite him. He'd get up and lay somewhere else just to sleep for about a minute and then jump up startled. And as of tonight he is absolutley terrified of something and i have no idea what. He came scratching on my door around 8 in the morning and as been following me (literally by my side) all day. He keeps trying to be as close to me as possible as if he wants me to protect him. He's had moments like this in the past but it was never this bad. He's not taking any medication but he used to take some allergy medication b/c he had ear allergies. I was wondering if you've heard of anything like this and if you know whats wrong with him and what i need to do to help him? Any help would be great

Bri,
Have you had him checked by a vet.  I am wondering if it is neurological.  When this happened in the past did you take him to the vet and if so, what did he say?
Are you in an area where there is snakes or some type of bug that he would be aware of that you are not?
Is he getting less exercise than usual?
Give me a bit more info, but I still don't know if I can answer this one, but I will try

Answer
Yes, take him to the vet.  I'm wondering if the infection is causing a fever and he is feeling and seeing things and/or if it is neurological.  and let me know so I can possibly pass this on to someone else.   I haven't really heard of this before.

Hey, I just had a thought this morning.....Ear infections.....do you think he is experience vertigo. and he feels like he is falling when he falls asleep and then looks at the floor and it is moving.  then he may be scared and staying close because he doesn't feel well or is dizzy
