schnauzer urinating on kids toys

Question
We have a nine year old min. schnauzer. My husband and I have four children and have lived in our same house for four years. Lately I've noticed, or the kids have, that the dog has urinated directly on their toys! And, I'm talking on them. No accidents on the floor at all. He will go pee pee directly on a little doll house or anything. Why would he be doing this now, and only on the kids things? We have had no significant changes within our household, and he is an otherwise healthy dog.

Answer
For some reason he is concerned about his place in the pack order in the house. Practice "Nothing in Life is Free" with him http://k9deb.com/nilif.htm and make sure that the kids do this also, as much as they are able.

The children must learn to keep their toys picked up off the floor or to keep their bedroom doors shut, but I suspect you will just have to buy "belly bands" for the dog to stop him from marking in this way as it will be very hard to catch him in the act. http://www.showpaps.com/bellybands.html
