finding male schnauzer

Dear Karen,
  We are looking for a male schnauzer for my little brother for Christmas that is full blooded. We already have one schnauzer and it would be nice if he had a friend. The only problem it that we do not have the money to buy one, Do you know of anyone who is willing to GIVE one up? we would really appreciate it. We live in Waxhaw, North Carolina...

Unfortunately, Kaitlin, I do not know anyone who would give a dog to anyone who could not afford to buy one. The reason is that the cheapest part of a dog is its purchase price... and the veterinary bills start a couple days after the dog goes to its new home and the new owner takes it in for a health checkup, and possibly shots if it is a puppy. Even rescue organizations charge a minimal fee to cover their vet expenses, but they do want to be sure that the new owners can afford proper vet care for any dog they place. You might try your local pound or humane society, but most of them also charge a minimal fee.
