Question
My baby (Siberian husky) shay just turned 2 on Oct, 18. she has always  been a very picky eater but recently she just refuses to eat her dog food at all. Granted i'm a lot to blame for her being so picky, i've always made sure shes eaten VERY well. but she has always eaten her dog food along with it.  like ill mix steak and gravy in with her dog food, but lately shes gotten to where she will only eat the steak and lap up the gravy and leaves the dog food. people say if she get hungry enough she will eat. NOT MY SHAY. and i refuse to let her go hungry so i do cater to her. (shame on me) but how do i get her to eat dog food again?

Answer
the best way is to not give her treats, steak ect And ONLY give her her dog food,at most she won't eat for 3 days then will get hungry enough she will just eat the food, and once she does that NO treat at all for about three weeks, and then only once in a while. I have a dog that also has this annoying problem, and I too created it. We all want to spoil them, but sometimes tough love is the best way to go-as this problem can get worse as the dog gets older. but it also is not healthy for the dog,as it can lead to the dog becoming overweight(as mine did,not all do though)as well as dental problems. This is however very common-so as much as you don't want to do it,the only way is to let her go hungry until she eats(and she will, and i now do this with my own dog and she does eat after 2 days at the most)
