Adopted puppy

Hello Lynn,
I really hope you can help us. We've just adopted a puppy from a local shelter(he's 5 m.o)he seems traumatized and doesn't listen to us and he won't let me pet him(I know its has been only a day)but I'm little concerned.
How do you approach this situation,he needs to know that I am the boss and he needs to learn to listen to me.

My question is,how do you train traumatized dog.

The best answer I can give you is, SLOWLY.  If you have just adopted him, he has no idea yet what you're telling him to do, so of course he's not going to listen to you.  You need to get into a basic obedience class.  That will help with both of the issues, it will get him trained, so he listens to you and also help to socialize him.
