Question
I have two lovely boxers, a bitch and a dog which are two years old. they both have lovely temperaments, although the dog is defiantly the dominant one. We have just bought a boxer puppy who is the nephew to them , the bitch is being really good , but the dog is growling every time the pup goes near him, we have had the pup for three days, the pup is also a dog. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks

Answer
The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts.  Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog.  Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones.  You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. Are the older dogs spay/neutered?  Doing so is no cure all, but usually makes a big difference in such cases.  You are going to have keep a close eye on things, perhaps crating the puppy when you aren't around.
