Question
I have bought 2 little mixed females Chi/Poms that are now 12 weeks old. They are doing great but they seem to fight all the time. Ive been told that most of this is play fighting. Then Ive also been told that I should not have bought 2 females that they will always fight. Any suggestions? They are both so sweet and I was hoping they would grow up to be best buddies. Did I make a huge mistake and will it harm their individual personalities?

Answer
Hi Jan..
No need to worry, they will be fine!  What you are experiencing is mostly play that sometimes evolves to a little bit more agression, but that is perfectly normal.  Right now, at this young age, they are deciding who will be the "alpha" dog, or the leader.  I have six dogs , four of which are females.  I prefer female dogs because the males tend to be agressive and they want to mark thier territory, even when neutered.  So, no , I don't think you made a mistake at all!  I would have chosen two females also.  They will each have their own personality, and one will be the "boss".   Be sure to have them spayed, as we have too many unplanned litters in this world!

God Bless,
