maybe pregnant chihuahua

i have a 4 year old Chihuahua i have only had her for 5 to 6 weeks now and i think she might be pregnant i have already gone through all the symptoms of that and she has all of them. I don't have allot of income but i will do whatever it takes to take care of her but i don't know what to expect i have helped cats berth labs and other bigger dogs she is about 6 to 7 pounds I'm guessing that the guy i got her from didn't know she was pregnant when he gave her to us cause he said she had never been breed before so i don't know who the dad is how can i help her and when will i know when she is in labor.

If you think your bitch is pregnant and the sire is unknown, the best thing to do would probably be to have her spayed ASAP. If you decide to go through with the pregnancy, here is a good site that explains the various stages the bitch goes through: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/whelping.htm  At this point, your big concern will be the potential size of the puppies since the sire is unknown. If she is in hard labor for over two hours with no results, you could be looking at a C-section, and those are expensive. If you have participated in whelping before, it is the same... the only difference is the size of the bitch.

It is possible that she is going through a false pregnancy, as the symptoms for that can be the same as those of an actual pregnancy. You might contact the previous owner and find out when the bitch was last in season... and if he knows if she was actually bred.
