my dog has just had puppys 2 months ago and thay have all gone but my dog has been ackting ill for the last month so i whent and got treetment for worms all of them she is lossing fere on spots not eating much and has a sore on her tall her tits r still very larg as well whot do you think is going on . thankyou

Hi Rachel,

Thank you for writing to me.

It sounds to me like your dog may have a hormonal imbalance from having gone through pregnancy and giving birth.  If her hormones are off, particularly the thyroid, she would be losing hair and feeling under the weather.  She absolutely needs to be seen by a vet to determine the cause of her poor condition.  It's already been too long and you don't want her to become so ill that it would be hard for her to recover.

I also want to urge you to have her spayed, especially after having such a bad reaction to the pregnancy.  Spaying prevents cancers and helps with over population, which is a major problem, especially with staffys.  For every puppy that is born, that is one less home available for a dog on death row.  The situation is heartbreaking.

I would also urge you not to use worming treatments without first checking to see if there are worms.  The treatments are poison and hard on the animal, and your dog was already in a compromised state of health.  Not a good combination.

Please make an appt. as soon as possible with your vet so that you can bring your dog back to health.
