Question
Hello, I have a female boxer, 3 female boxers actually..I am some what expereinced with dogs, but I hope you don't mind, I'd like to see if maybe you could help out. Ruby a yr and 7 months old has always been a heavy breathier, let me state, she's a very happy, go lucky dog and clumsy like a puppy haha, anyways, she's been having a snorting/snoring sound when she breath and the last two nights, she's very restless, breathing heavily and snoring, she even snorted while eating today, I am concerned, she eats, she plays and gives all kinds of loves, but this breathing/snorting has got us worried, should we be concerned? I simply can;t afford a vet bill 500 plus for them to tell me nothing is wrong. Any and all opinions/suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you, Kimberly

Answer
Hello, I am sorry but your pup sounds like she has stenic nares or an enlongated soft palate problem please see my breathing problems page on my website:

http://www.freewebs.com/dustycovens/breathingproblems.htm

and Not to be rude...please don't take this the wrong way but I strongly feel that if one can not afford vet bills one should not have the animal.... I had payed $350 for my boston terrier's stenic nare correctment surgery two weeks after had bought her her for $800! And a few months ago I had had to borrow money and throw all the money I Had into hospitilizing my Peach faced lovebird....that cost $650...I am not rich accctaully far from but if something needs to be done to a loved one(your companion animals) you must make sacrifices to get the proper treatment.
