Our stuck up yorkie and scardy-cat

Question
My family has had our 4-year old teacup yorkie (mostly indoor, on homemade rice and beef diet), Kirby, for about 2 years now, although his situation is quite confusing. He was only meant to be temporary but since nobody else wanted him, he's still with us. Because of that, we never properly introduced him to our other pets, namely our rather nervous cat, Simon. Simon, although slightly bigger than Kirby, is frightened to death of Kirby and runs at the sight of him. This triggers Kirby's instincts to chase and only further reinforces Simon's fears. I don't think it's fair for Simon to continue living in fear! Any suggestions on how to correct the damage done? Thanks in advance!

Answer
Andrea, it's difficult to say what you should do, without actually being there. There are several things you could try, but in all honesty, with an uncooperative cat, it's going to be extremely difficult, if not impossible. I would recommend that you consult with a local trainer that can come to your house and work with you all on this issue. I feel that would be the safest way to go for everyone.
