Question
Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.  With all of the different heart worm medication on the market it is difficult at make a decision.  All of the following products have one or more qualities that are appealing, with that said can you recommend a heat worm pill for me?  I live in rural area in PA and have a 5 months German Shepherd.  I am using Front line plus on the dog too.

Thank you,

John

Answer
Since usually you have to get the heartworm remedy from the vet along with a blood test, I usually suggest talking to the vet.  For years I used Heartgard+ and no flea treatment when we only had one healthy young dog.  After we took in an older dog with an existing flea allergy, we switched to Revolution for 4 years, which does both plus other worms in the flea season.  Unfortunately she developed whip worms last summer.  We put our younger dog on Sentinel which does whip worms, but is a little weak on fleas.  With the older dog gone now, we have our new puppy on Interceptor which does heartworm, whipworm, and some others, but not fleas.  One more factor is what your vet stocks.  Mine doesn't like Sentinel and doesn't have it.  So my answer has to be, it all depends.
