anal blockage

My dog,Jasper has not had a bowel movement for at least a week.He's 8 years old and has never had this problem before.He eats a little food and drinks his water.Could it be that he has a blockage from something he ate or could it be something else?

Hey Marilyn. Usually there is something very serious going on internally when a dog doesn't defocate. I would recommend bringing Jasper to the vet asap for a fecal check & a physical exam. If you are positive that he hasn't had a bowel movement in a week, then he needs to go to the vet very soon. Thanks
