Anxious dog when left at home alone

My dog is 2 yrs. old and he gets very anxious - to the point of shaking very hard - when he is left at home alone each day when we leave to go to work.  He has plenty of toys, I leave the radio on, etc.  We have another dog, but she is a puppy and is not house-trained yet, so she stays in a crate in a different area.  He has scratched up the door facing and the adjoining wall; he just looks so unhappy when we leave, and I really don't know what to do about it.  Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

You may need to have a local trainer come to see your dog for an evaluation. In the meantime. You dont need to seperate the dogs..put your dog in a crate next to the puppy..it wont bother the puppy at all that way. you are doing everything else you can. good luck
