Is the mini schnauzer right for me?

We are wanting to get a dog but just wanted to see which breed is right for us. I have a 6 year old and an 8 year old. My husband has a small company and I work at the office with him so I could take the dog with me through the day. I want a small, non shedding, lower energy dog. He wouldn't be alone but a few hours a week. I have been looking at the yorkie, maltese, and the mini schnauzer. Which do you think would be the best?

I think a Yorkie or Maltese would probably be too small with your young children (if your kids are boys anyway... girls are usually more gentle). The Yorkies I have groomed have always shed like crazy.

Schnauzers can be a terrific dog with kids if they have been raised around them, but they are not usually a lower-energy dog as they like to be busy. They are an extremely intelligent breed, and that can get them into trouble, particularly if they are left to their own devices.
