Two Dominant Dogs

Question
Hi,

We have an 8 month old female Whippet x Mini Fox Terrier, and we wanted
her to have a canine friend for her to play with, so yesterday we brought
home a 4.5 month old male terrier cross breed pup. Both dogs seem to have
dominant personalities, and they fight constantly. Will they resolve their
differences and start to get along with some time and training, or should we
take the young male back to the shelter, and maybe purchase a more
submissive dog instead?

Thanks.
Zoe.

Answer
Zoe, This is absolutely normal behaviour. And besides you wouldnt abandon your child if you saw that he/she had some traits you didnt like!!!Time and effective training will solve the problem.
When they do begin to fight, You should discourage, first not to harsh on your voice but gradually a higher pitch and more harsh tone and may be a small splurt of water on them. I would recommend you spray the water only the first couple of times and then only threaten with it. Also be careful bout the weather.

p/s-Males and females will usually always settle their disputes themselves.
