QuestionWe have taken on a 6 month old jack russell who has obviously not been toilet trained before and we are finding it very difficult. She does perform outside but will also do it inside. We cannot let her roam freely in the garden as we have a stream which runs into neighbours garden and she could easily escape. We are thinking of a dog pen. Any suggestions.
AnswerUse a crate-that is the best way to house train a puppy
What you do is keep her in the crate at all times except to go outside,to eat,to play ect And do that for about three weeks and slowly let her out more-and if she makes accidents again put her in for another 10 days or so,it isn't cruel and in fact that is what most shelters recommend
It works because they want to keep sleeping areas clean
