Turtles

Dear Patt,

I know your expertise is dogs - I think dogs are such lovely creatures, and it makde me very happy to ready your profile and how much you love them and care for them - but I was wondering if you could help, since you said you've had experience with turtles.

A friend of mins has a turtle from the Middle East. He's brownish in color, with sandy and dark brown on his shell. He's about fifteen years old. They bought a special light for him, but they never use it. They keep him in Buffalo, NY. He is such a beautiful, wonderful creature, and he is so adorable. I am very scared for his safety because they do not use the special light, because he will not get the chance to hibernate, because he lives in a house full of cigarette smoke, and because he is often exposed to extreme cold conditions that I think even desert nights could not replicate (Buffalo NY is one of the coldest large cities in the world).

Please tell me if you think the turtle is safe - his name is Miles - and what you think I should do to help him if anything.

IF U CAN GET THE TURTLE OUT OF THAT LIVING CONDITION GET HIM OUT OR HE WILL DIE FOR SURE.?
HE MUST HAVE HEAT FOR TURTLES SURVIVE IN WARM OCEAN WATERS ON ISLANDS LIKE THE SNAMANIE MANY DIED AND ARE ALSO SAVEED.
GET THIS TURTLE AWAY FROM THIS FAMILY NOW IF U NEED TO MAKE AN OFFER AND PAY LATER, GET HIM AND SAVE HIM OR HE WILL DIE SOON.
THEY CANNOT TOLERATE SMOKE, COLD, HE WILL NEVER MAKE IT AND THAT MAKES ME ILL, I HATE TO GET QUESTIONS LIKE THIS TO KNOW CREATURES I KNOW LITTLE ABOUT BUT MY INSTINCTS TELL ME THIS IS WRONG AND NOT RIGHT AND I WOULD SWIM A RIVER TO SAVE THE POOR CREATURE, PLEASE DO THE SAME FOR ME.
I KNOW YOU LOVE THIS POOR THING SO PLEASE RESCUE IT AND LET ME KNOW FOR IT NEEDS THE HEAT, NO SMOKE PLEASE TELL THE PEOPLE IN QUESTION THEY ARE GOING TO KILL THE TURTLE THAT DESERVES TO LIVE LIKE ALL CREATURES THAT NEED OUR HELP.  PLEASE HELP HIM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
LET ME KNOW I BEG OF YOU WHAT HAPPENS TO TURTLE.
