Question
Three weeks ago, we purchased a 4 mth old Yorkie Poo puppy (Scamp)and he is constantly jumping up at the face of my 5 year old Bischon (Toby). Sometimes it is for no reason (perhaps to play) but most of the time it is because Toby has a toy in which case Scamp will immediately chase him down and then jump up at his face and knock the toy out of Toby's mouth.  Toby does not fight back and is in fact becoming a little withdrawn and less playful now. Also, Scamp is constantly sniffing Toby's rear side and re-sents everywhere Toby urinates.  I find it ironic as Scamp is 4-5 lbs. and Toby is 21 lbs. Please help, Scamp is making Toby's life very difficult.

Answer
Hi Bette;
Well I guess you picked the right name for "Scamp"!!! LOL
Anyways, you will have to understand, that two different breeds, two different personalities...a Terrier is always going to have that drive, where the Bischon is more of a "lapdog" so to speak.
You will have to give them two different areas, or a "Time out" for one and give the other one on one time.
The Terrier is going to be dominant!
That is the fact.
And the more he grows the more dominant he will be.
Definitely neuter him!
And, consider taking him to an obedience class. This way, you will get him more under your control.
Best wishes,
Melissa
