Dog for a running partner

Question
QUESTION: I am interested in getting a dog next summer and want to make sure it would be a good running partner for me. I run between 3-7 miles a few times per week. I prefer larger dogs and want to get a shelter dog. Can you recommend a dominant breed for me to look for in my homeless hound?
I know that a lot of larger dogs have issues with their hips and are therefore not good to run.
Thank you.

ANSWER: My first choices would either be a Staffordshire Bull terrier,American Staffordshire Terrier or the American Pitbull terrier, all of these breeds are easy to find in shelters and are often just called 'pitbulls' And despite what you might hear about these breeds, they are excellent dogs-and they are also good runners without having the hip problems of many breeds

My second choice would be a Border Collie, they are also great runners and are full of energy, also Australian Shepherds and Australian Cattle dogs-also breeds found in shelters, mainly because of there high energy

My third choice would be a Siberian Husky, also known for being runners and being able to keep up,from being breed for sled racing-also found in shelters often

QUESTION: As my current neighborhood forbids pitbulls, do you have any other suggestions for the very short-haired smooth dogs? I like husky's too, but all that fur!!

Answer
Unfortunatly, they are too banned where i live

Now for a short haired dog,I should meantion a German Short Haired Pointer, they are also good runners and rarely get hip problems because of there lighter build

Boxers are also good, but unfortunatly prone to cancer and generally live only around 8
