stomach rumblings

Hi, my dog Lucy woke me up tonight barking and nudging me to wake up. Ever since she's had really loud noises coming out of her stomach area between her back legs. she just lays there but when I try and sleep she lays all over me and tries to get my attention. I've taken her outside 3 times. What should I do?

Hi Tori,

Thank you for writing to me.  If she's still showing signs of distress please RUSH HER TO EMERGENCY.  She could have a life threatening condition known as bloat.  There isn't much time once a dog develops this condition to save its life.

There could also be blockage or any number of serious medical conditions but bloat is of primary concern.  A dog can die an excruiating death within hours.

Please call your vet immediately and ask for emergency intervention.

Better safe than sorry.
