Question
Does the pigmentation of a Frenchie have anything to do with their hearing? ie: If a puppy is all white with little or no pigment, is there a possibility that it may be deaf? If we are thinking of purchasing this puppy, what would be a good way of checking besides the obvious?

Answer
Michael,
A recessive gene can be associated with deafness, but Frenchies come in white, which means that it is not recessive to them.  Now if you are talking about an albino, there may be a problem.  When you say no pigment, is his eyes blue, is his nose all pink?  Also, hold your cell phone up to each side of his head and have it make a noise and see if he reacts.  Usually if there is a problem, it is from birth.
