older dog peeing in house

i have a shitzu he is 14 he has begun peeing upstairs on the carpeting.  We got a new puppy in Sept but he never peed where this dog has. Is there anything i can do he does it a few times a week.

First, get her checked out by a vet to make sure that it's nothing physical.  Second, clean the spots where he's peed with a commercial product to remove the odor (available at pet stores).  Third, if he can't be supervised, crate him (or don't allow him upstairs).
