mixing dog breeds

hi my names abbie and i am buying a minature smooth coated daschund puppie for my daughter and a smooth coated chiauau for my older daughter! i would like to no if they will get on well? and would it be possible to mate them!   thank xx

Hello Abbie, As puppies they should get along well, only keep in mind the dachshund will be larger even  from the beginning than the Chihuahua and stronger.  You may have to supervise the play time so as the smaller one does not get hurt.  As for breeding the two, well if the Chihuahua is the male and the dachshund is the female you could breed them, if it is the other way around then it would be a bad idea.  Chihuahua's even if bred to another Chihuahua 50% of the time require a C-section.  They are very small and have trouble giving birth.  good luck and enjoy the puppy training.  Thanks for asking, Cindy Lou :)
