Swelling Remedy?

Question
I think my 10-year old siberian husky was bitten by something earlier today and her face is swollen on one side.  I have her an ascriptin earlier which didn't reduce the swelling, and gave her a 2nd ascriptin about 6 hours later.  Her apatite is fine, and was wondering if there are any home remedies I could give her to reduce the swelling?

Answer
The ascriptan will only help if there is pain. Did you check the area to see if you could find punctures or sting marks or abrasians? Did you check inside her mouth to see if she has an abscess on her gums, injury inside her mouth or an abscessed tooth?
Do those things immediately and if there are no signs of injury or infection inside her mouth give her a benadryl. 25 mgs. She could have any of the things I've already mentioned, or as you suspect it could be a spider bite. a snake bite or a bee sting. If it's snake or spider she's going to have to be seen. So you need to check VERY carefully. Most snake bites will go away on their own but many need cortison or other steriodal treatment as do spider bites, as well as antibiotics.
Good luck
