hi i was hoping you could help me, my dog is 14months old and she is in season she got stuck with my male dog lastnite so i presume she is pregnant, will she be able to have the pups or is she 2 young??? hope u can help me thanx

Hi Leanne,

Your dog isn't too young to have a litter, but there is a huge pet overpopulation problem. Everyday HUNDREDS of wonderful healthy animals are "put to sleep" because they have no home. An unplanned litter only contributes to this problem!

Dogs don't necessarily become pregnant every time they're bred. You should take this accident as a wake up call.  While your dog would have received the most in health benefits if she was spayed before the onset of her fist heat cycle, now is the time to get your dog spayed!  Your veterinarian can confirm this pregnancy.

Spaying your dog now will end this pregnancy, and prevent all future "accidents". Dogs don't have a menopause as people do. Your dog can get pregnant during her entire life. Contact your vet or local animal shelter to see where there is a reduced cost spay clinic in your area.
