Taking an older dog to the dog groomer

Question
My family has a fourteen year old Cairn Terrier who has a lot of small tumors on her skin and one large tumor on her leg, none of which are malignant or seem to bother her. However, my mom says that because of them we can't take her to the groomer because they could nick the tumors, and we do a horrible job cutting her fur ourselves. She has a problem urinating on herself in her sleep, and having shaved fur would help keep her clean. Would it be okay to take her to the groomers despite the tumors?

Answer
Hi,
Why not a compromise.    Give her a bath at home,  Take her to the groomer and ask them to give her a sanitary and do her head including ears and face.   That way you can keep the hair away from the areas where she wets herself.  Also there are diapers now for the incontinent dogs which will help you out at night.
