Is it normal after breeding?

Question
Hi there, I have a 14 month old Purebred Border Collie and i recently used him as a stud for the first time. Since he has come home, he constantly whines. Is that normal? And also, He has urinated on furniture/in the house, is that a dominance thing or what?
Thanks, Brittany

Answer
Brittany-

Yes, that is normal. Now that he has been bred, he is going to constantly, constantly want to be bred. Nothing you can do will change his mind, all he thinks about now is breeding. He will cry, whine, pant, and may even go off his food. The urination on furniture and house is marking his territory in hopes of driving away imaginary males so that he can breed more.

The best thing you can do is put a bellyband on him, and wait it out. Eventually, it will settle a bit. That is, until he smells a bitch in heat or is bred again! Welcome to the world of intact males. Much easier to neuter, LOL!
