when will i be able to bath my baby shitzu she is nearly 7 weeks old?

Dear Tracy,

Thank you for writing to me about your little munchkin.

You can gently bathe your dog in warm (not hot) water now if you feel it is necessary but people with small dogs tend to bathe way too often.  A dog has natural oils in the skin that are protective and it isn't recommended to bathe them too often because these healthy oils will be washed away.  The skin can then become dry and flakey.

Be sure that you give your dog fish oil.  I prefer Krill oil to nourish the skin.  Use an organic pet shampoo when bathing, such as Aubrey.  

A healthy dog should not have to be bathed often at all.
