Question
hi Kristin,

I rescued a 2 year old miniature pinscher last november, and even though he came from what seemed to be a loving home, he urinates by marking his territory in our home. I got him fixed about a week after adopting him, so it has been almost four months. His sack is still visible, but is slowly shrinking up. Unfortunately, I have never caught him in "the act." I walk him for about an hour every day, he has a big back yard to play in, and between my partner and I, someone is always home. I have been using a belly band, and he urinates in that too. What do you suggest for incontinence issues in this situation with a dog that is a bit older? Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
Hi Helen,

If even the belly band doesn't work to prevent accidents, you should have your dog examined by your veterinarian. It might not be an incontinence issue, it could be something that's easily treated, like a urinary tract infection.

Best of luck,

Patti
