Question
I have a terrier chisuahua mix who is suddenly
opposed to having his nails clipped.  He needs
them clipped frequently, so i don't want to have
to take him to the vet.  I tried benadryl but it
had little effect.  What dosage can i give him of
the benadryl.  I am embarrased to ask if over the
counter sleep aids are poisonous for him,   but
I am at my wits end.  He recently bit me, and I
had to go the doctor!

Answer
Mindy,
It is very dangerous to give over the counter meds to dogs without veterinary supervision.  You could easily overdose your dog, or he could have an adverse reaction and die.  IT would be much easier to buy a muzzle to keep him from biting you.  Most dogs, especially terrier types, hate having their nails clipped.  Mine go beserk but I make them be still.  My advice is to NOT give him any drugs but buy a muzzle that fits correctly.

God Bless,
Becky
