odor problem

Hi,my Shih-zhu-chihuahua mix always has an odor. He has very sensitive skin. I bath him several times a week but he still has a "doggie " odor. I can't use a real fragrant dog shampoo, it causes him to break out and scratch. Anything natural I can use to get rid of the smell? THANKS!

If you are bathing your dog several times a week and he still smells, something is wrong. When you take him in for his spring checkup, have the veterinarian go over him thoroughly. He may have a skin yeast infection, be needing his anal glands expressed, or have an ear infection. His teeth should be checked, too, as they may need cleaning. All of those things can cause unwanted odors.

As to the shampoo, you could try an oatmeal shampoo; they are usually pretty gentle.
