Shiba Inus and cats

Question
Hello, I have just recently adopted a shiba inu american eskimo mix puppy (about 4 months old). I am in the process of introducing him to our resident 8 yr old cat (who was adopted from a shelter as a stray, and can be skittish). I have heard that the shiba inu's have a high prey drive, and i am concerned that I handle the introduction correctly, as I don't want the new puppy to harrass the cat. Any advice on how to handle the introductions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Nikki

Answer
Introduce them VERY slowly, what I recomend is putting the puppy on a leash and letting it sniff the cat for a few minutes, and then if you can,put the puppy(or the cat)into another room for a while, and then when you feel it's time, repeat the process,do this for about a week, then you can gradualy let them spend time together
