My puppy keeps bumping her head

Question
I recently brought home an 8 week old yorkie mixed with corgi and fox terrier. She is paper trained for the most part and she listens to commands only when we have treats for her. My boyfriend has been putting her on the bed because "she is so cute", now everynight she barks to get on the bed. If we don't let her on the bed she barks and runs under the bed and bumps her head because she is running all over the place. When he puts her on the bed she is so active and try's to nip at our hands, faces, digging the sheets...I have a cage for her that she will go into but if locked she will continue to bark. She understands "good girl" I have only had her for about 3 weeks and 70% of the time she is a really good girl, but the other 30% I feel helpless. My concern is the fact that she is bumping her head so much. As well as she is out of control at times. Thank You in advance

Answer
Puppies are quite active and often take hard knocks in stride.  From all the times one has slammed its head into mine, I know they can take a harder knock than I can.

I have a solution to settling one in for the night.  I have been successful with over a dozen puppies this way.  I have found lying down in front of the crate like you were going to sleep and speaking softly to it, or singing, until it settles down and goes to sleep works very well. Follow the pattern, a period of active play, outside to eliminate, and then into the crate.
