Lose of hair

I have a 3 year old dachsund that is loosing hair around his ears.  I have taken him to the vet and $600 later nothing has helped.  A biopsy was taken to see if a fungus was growing but they found nothing.  I would appreciate any advice you can give me.  Someone did tell me that dachsunds are prone to this.  Is this true?

Hi, did they do a skin scraping of the areas where the hair loss is prevalant?  Not sure if it is common in Dachshunds, but you could check with th parent club Dachshund Club of America as far as something common.  If they didn't do a skin scraping for demodectic mites, thats the first thing I would look at.  Hope this helps,
