registration when stud owner will not sign

Question
We are Reg. with AKC and somehow our male got with a female.
So DNA says yet the male was only 1 yr old and the female was in the pen with a 10 yr old male.  My question is why would a reg. club try to force the stud owner to sign the papers. just because of the DNA?  The bitch owner does not want to pay a stud fee.  Is she  to get my dogs bloodline  for nothing.  Who owns the dog and sperm from the dog the register club or the dog owner?

Answer
Hi Cathy,  Who paid for the DNA test and how did they get your dog's DNA?  If you don't sign the papers, there is nothing the female's owners can do except sell the pups as unregistered.  Unless she has your signature or a stud contract signed by you, AKC will not register the litter.  The AKC may ask you to sign to get the pups registered, but you can inform them that she never paid a stud fee, so until she does you will not sign papers.  They totally understand that.  You own the dog & his sperm, not the club.   Hope this helps,

Dawn
