Puppy Weary of Walks

I have an 11 week old lab puppy mix. He took to crate training wonderfully and listens to me nearly all the time. The only problem I am having is getting him to go on walks. We will go for a bit and then he just stops. Recently, I have just been dropping the leash and continued walking and eventually he runs after me and i pick up the lead and continue walking. What can I do to gain his confidence??

It is easy to tire out a little puppy.  We recently dragged a 2 month old Golden to a convention.  Much of the weekend, we had to carry her.  Other times they do just stop even if they aren't tired.  If coaxing them doesn't work, try dropping back and running past them in baby steps calling ''Go, go, go!'' in an excited voice.  You feel a little silly doing that in a hotel hallway.
