Rescued Basenji peeing on couch and chewed couch

Question
We adopted a female Basenji two months ago. She is a little under a year old and was already potty trained. She took right up with our family and adjusted very fast. She seems very happy. She has been perfectly trained until the last two or three weeks. She has peed on the couch, loveseat, and chair. I was actually sitting in the chair and she peed on it and me. She goes to the door when she needs to go out. She has started not wanting to get off our deck and sometimes pees right there or else wants right back in even after holding it all night. We have to command her to go potty now and be in alpha mode with her. Several of these "accidents" have been after being outside. I do not "punish" her but scoop her up and take her outside and tell her to potty outside. She also chewed on my loveseat (she likes to lay here if not in her bed) and this is also a place she peed. There was three people home with her. I know Basenji's are high energy and a good Basenji is a tired one. She is given tons of exercise and play all day. I have three kids and then my husband and I play with her as well. We really love her and want this to work out but I am sick of her doing this and have no answer as to why she has started doing these things. I took her to the vet and they said it is behavior issues and also recommended spraying our furniture with some kind of dog pee off spray. I declined for now as would rather have a real training solution to the issue. We do not know her background since she was rescued. She follows our commands and is a very good loving dog other than this. She acts as though she knows she has done wrong as she goes right into a cowering mode and wags her tail like "love me even though I did bad."

Answer
Hello..it doesnt matter if the dog was housebroken when you got her..she will regress in a new home since she doesnt know the rules there. It probably seemed like she did because a dog is a little different the first two weeks. You need to re housebreak and train the dog using a crate and you can NOT let her on the furniture at all. The problem at this point is that you need to wash everything with vinegar and water or she will go again there. Do you know how to crate train a dog? thanks
